  1. .What final thoughts do you have about your WLE? my final thoughts are i am going to miss this place. i realize that my mentor have done a lot for me. she has guided me in the right direction for the work world i really enjoyed my time at my WLE people are all so nice and welcomed me with open arms. i feel like my WLE has really helped me be professional and want to come back to volunteer and or work here in the future.

  2. SENIORS: How will this experience affect your future decisions or goals?
this experience will help me in the future because it helps me to learn how to work in a professional environment for when i get a job in the future i can take these skills with me to help me be good at work and get along with my co-workers and staff at my job, code switch and work with people with good and bad attitudes.

I entered the alumni files into the database for my mentor to save for the future events they have such as the 85th anniversary they plan on having in february . I have improved by being faster at my work and begin typing faster
what makes my WLE great is that it is a quiet place to get work done because people at my WLE are chill and relaxed and also very helpful when i am doing my assigned work and my project.

Remembering way back wheni was looking for my WLE I had to… follow with Joel to get my mentors number. The most effective way of looking for a job and getting hired is by being consistent and professional. As a result of my WLE, I think being a professional or a responsible adult in the work world means being  on time , behaving yourself and acting the opposite of how you act when you are with your friends. also being respectful of your boss and others around which is a part of being professional.

  1.   i am using Complete Projects Effectively the most because when i am at my workplace i work on my project effectively every time i am at my WLE with help from my mentor. i am using this leadership skill very well but i can improve by working faster. also i could improve my getting help from not only my mentor but also other people who work at my WLE This leadership skill helps me do my work because i know my motivation is to graduate. also to get a good reputation for future references. my mentor uses  Collaborate Productively because daily she works with many different people everyday with the same nice and kind attitude.

Describe what I am thinking I’ll do for my WLE project  i came up with this idea because of my mentor and her idea of having something for their 85th anniversary. i am excited because it is something that i can complete easily. In Academic Seminar, you’ll get help in actually planning out your project, but for now, type your brainstorm of what you’ll need to accomplish in order to finish your project in the next 3-4 weeks. some things i need to do for my project was:
  • collecting pictures
  • connecting with Joel about iMovie
  • collecting music
  • presenting it to my mentor

My main responsibility is to enter the alumni files into the database. Other tasks that i am completing is my project. A regular day consists of me arriving , signing in, logging on to the computer and starting my task I didn't have many tasks at my WLE because I am not working in the children area. I am working in the office where there are not many tasks to do.

1.What is my mentor’s name and job? (If I had more than 1, describe them both.)
My mentor's name is Cheryl Davila and she is a office manager.

2.What is their typical day (or week) like?
her typical day consists of meetings, tours and answering phones.

3.How did they become interested in this field and what skills/education background did they need?
she became interested in this because she did not want to become a teacher but she did want to work in a school she did not expect to get hired because everyone in the faculty had their masters degree and she did not but surprisingly she did get hired and now she is currently working on her master's degree.

My Workplace is called Mills College Children's School it is a small private school in the corner of mills college campus. My workplace is located in oakland and it is on a huge college campus. multiple people work at my WLE such as teachers and executives. My workplace employs adults with a college degree and mostly masters degree. most of the people there have a 4-year college degree my workplace serves children from the ages of: 2 months through 11 years old. strengths of my workplace is that they seem that they care and they give their students opportunities that other schools don't give. A weakness of my WLE is communication but it is only a small weakness

I learned that what i do plays a big role. challennges i faced was havimg loads of work.i learned to just smile through whatever and it will get you through the day, fake it til you make it.How was my creativity put to use during my experience? my creativity was put to work by me doing things that i have never doe before. it affected me becasue this is where i grew up, and it makes me feel at home. i now believe that working with children is NOT harder than working in the office.the skills that i worked on are my typing skills i would say , because i helped Mills College  Children's School Re-connect with their alumni students. it will make me think foor when i need references no one will want to reference an unstable person so it keeps me balanced.
